Classification of the parquet

The parquet is classified according to the following types:

  1. According to the color, the parquet sort of wood can be divided into the following color groups:
    • light;
    • yellow;
    • pink;
    • red;
    • brown;
    • dark.
  2. According to the selection, the parquet is divided into:
    • Radial — the parquet of the higher sort only with a radial saw. This kind of the parquet has practically an equal texture brightened up with medullary rays, which come to the surface of the face. The flaws in the wood and mechanical damages are not allowed.
    • Standard — the parquet of the higher sort, without the selection by saw. The parquet of the tangential and conditionally radial saw has enough equal color texture. Saps, twigs and mechanical damages are not allowed.
    • Natural — the parquet without the selection by saw, which has the natural picture of the wood. Saps, strong knots with diameter 5mm, any inclination of the fibers, threads and color difference are acceptable. The flaws are practically not allowed.
    • Rustic — the parquet of the first category of quality. The light and dark twigs with diameter 5mm are allowed, the cracks caused by the loss of weight, mechanical damages are also allowed. Among the flaws in the wood, the damages from insects and rot are not allowed.
    • Select — the parquet of the higher sort, which is selected according to the type of sawing (radial, tangential and radial — pearl) and additionally sorted according to the color of the wood. The flaws in the wood and mechanical damages are not allowed.
  3. According to the type of sawing
    • Tangential — the parquet of the higher quality. It is made of slats, got during the process of sawing the stem through the tangent to the annual rings. Defects, damages and twigs are not allowed.

    • Radial — the selected parquet of the higher quality, but only of the radial sawing (the flatness of the slit goes through the core of the stem to the radius of the butt-end). It has practically an equal texture brightened up with medullary rays, which come to the face.

Besides listed types of parquet classification, many producers and sellers of the parquet introduce their own types of the wooden floor. That is, according to the same name, the outward appearance, quality and the price of the parquet can differ in different manufacturers.
