Alder (alnus -latin name.)This sort of wood is without core and alburnum. Wood is of white colour. It quickly turns red and becomes brown. Medullary rays are narrow and imperceptible. It is difficult to discern yearly rings. Wood is soft and with silky luster, homogeneous, it quickly gets dry and is good at processing. It is good at imitating valuable sorts of wood. It is not stable against dry-rot and worm-holes. |
